This Google business card is an innovation in its self, allowing people to Google their name through for contact information purposes. But the question remains are the people mentally prepared to do so or are you encouraging people to do so time and again?.

Chrome users finally get their wishes granted as the news was brought forward via Google Earth mailing list. This is going to be exciting for Chrome holics round the world as users don’t need to switch over browsers and start all over again. Acoording to Google’s employee:
As of 4 p.m. PST today, Google Chrome 1.0+ on Windows is an officially supported browser. That means Chrome users will no longer get the unsupported browser message, and the plugin and API should work just as they would in other supported browsers.

chromium_bookmark_manager

Google Chrome is soon to improve its bookmark management by adding many features, and those shall be available in a update of the service. The features include a prominent one, that of a bookmark manager; it lets you find bookmarks, and move them to a new folder, and works to delete a large number of bookmarks. Options are also available to import bookmarks from an HTML file, and also to export bookmarks. You could find these from the Tools drop-down menu. While also, you can import bookmarks from Google Bookmarks.

google_logo Google has launched a new feature to search for all searchers with Google accounts entitled SearchWiki. The new feature hasn’t propagated to any of our accounts here at Mashable yet, so I have no hands-on experiences to report, but from the description and the Google screencast, the feature allows you to re-order search result, remove and add links to a given search result, and annotate results within your queries.

Here’s the screencast demonstration Google provided:

As Googler Amay says in the video, all changes made to your search results are only visible to you in your own account, and your results aren’t affected by other users deletions, insertions or re-orders. Notes made on specific search results may, however, be visible to others, which looks like it could be interesting to watch how they’ll keep it from spiraling out of control.

It’s worthy of re-iteration that this isn’t a test feature, a Labs or 20% time project, this is something that will go live on all users of Google Search while logged into their Google accounts.

google_profile_verified

Google has added a feature from its Knol sites, on Google Accounts, where you can verify that they are who they say they are. You get a green tag on your profile that says verified name, just as Google executive David Glazer has. The objective taken from Google’s Knol is to provide people an opportunity to create their own Web pages to inform others about various subjects. Google states:

“Profiles will display a ‘verified name’ badge, if the user has verified their name through Knol. Any user can go through Knol’s interface to obtain the verified badge.”

Furthermore the company says that this helps increase the author’s credibility in the eyes of the reader. But it’s only for U.S. accounts for now. The service offers features for verifying through phone, and credit card number. Google Accounts also has this search profiles box at the bottom if one needs to verify or find anyone.

Google Morphing into a Global Social Network ? October 31, 2008

Google services, searchable by Google’s Search Engine. In a statement acknowledging the move, Google said:

Recently, we added the ability to search all public profiles created by users. If a user has checked the ‘Show full name publicly so people can find you’ box on the profile edit page, their profile is a publicly accessible Web page and is indexed in search results.

Although Google is framing the move as a way to make the search engine more contextual, it also has the potential to turn the search giant into a global social network unlike anything that we have seen till now.

Google Chrome Xp theme in vista October 25, 2008

Google Chrome looks as good on XP as it does on Vista. I like the blue title bar that shows up for Chrome in XP. I had been wondering how to get that theme in Windows Vista as well. If you use the Vista Basic theme, you can use Chrome with the blue theme in Vista as well, but after much research, I found out this relatively simple trick to revert Chrome to the XP theme in Vista, without turning off Aero. Here are the simple steps.

  1. Right click your Chrome shortcut icon, and open
  2. properties.Properties Window
  3. Navigate to the Compatibility tab and change the settings to match the ones as shown in the image above. The compatibility mode should be set to Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1) and not Windows XP, as Chrome fails to work with it. Also, Disable Visual Themes should be checked. Apply the settings and close the properties box and now run Chrome.

imageVoila! now you’ll be running Chrome in the Windows XP theme. I’ve tried using this trick on the new Windows Live Wave 3 desktop apps too, as they look nice even in the non-Aero mode, but it doesn’t seem to work with them. If anyone knows a way to get them to revert to their Windows XP themes on Vista, do let us know.

Google LogoGoogle aims to reach the top of mountain by increasing its userbase, has once again made the Google site available in 37 more languages other than English. With the total number of languages reaching 38, people from different regions and backgrounds are now able to build and host their own websites on Google sites.

With the current release, users are now able to access Google Sites service and interface in each of these languages. This would give the website creators and collaborators an opportunity to interact with the site in a better way using their respective languages.

The browser settings automatically detect the language and display the site in that language if it is among supported languages. Following is the list of those 38 languages:
