If you feel you are charged a few more on taxi fare for a journey and can’t afford the same o happen next time try Taxime. The startup lets you estimate how much would your journey cost with its easy to use widget. Just type in your starting address and that of the destination and Taxime does the rest. That’s not it, it provides directions using Google Map as well as taxi contact information and break up of the fare (charges for waiting at signals). Simple and effective and it doesn’t cost you a penny using it.
1,300 employees kicked out by Sun Microsystem January 25, 2009

Sun Microsystem has confirmed that the company has laid off 1,300 employees. The job cuts are part of the restructuring plan which was first announced in November last year. According to the plan, around 6,000 employees are expected to lose their jobs. According to the company the job cuts are made across all the levels.
According to a statement released by the company:
The cuts are part of a restructuring of the company, Sun said, that are intended to save between $700 million to $800 million each year. The company said it believed the restructuring would “result in a more efficient coverage model with resources aligned to growth opportunities.
Facebook Surpasses Myspace January 25, 2009

World’s leading social network Facebook which past MySpace in terms of traffic, has doubled its popularity. Last month around 222 million unique users visited the Facebook. MySpace on the other hand has issued an statement regarding their traffic which says:
We are laser focused on building a sustainable global business which we measure by profits and revenue–not just eyeballs. In a tough economic climate, our international revenue is up 30 percent year over year and we continue to focus on those markets with the strong monetization opportunities.
Additionally, MySpace continues to dominate the U.S. market–where the bulk of online advertising revenues reside–both in terms of monetization and user engagement with more than 76 million unique users and a 40 percent spike in engagement year over year.
