Google has come up with an innovative contest that offers a sum of 10 million dollars for five new ideas that can change the world and benefit people.

The contest which is being held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Google will be open to entries from across the world and the submissions can be made in various languages.

Interestingly the contest is being labelled as Project 10^100; a nomenclature that sounds quite typical of Google.

A press release from Google mentioned that “These ideas can be big or small, technology-driven or brilliantly simple, but they need to have impact”

In addition the press release also noted the fact many are many brilliant ideas are in need of funding to bring them to fruition and this initiative is a step in that direction.

A team of Google employees supported by an advisory board will narrow down the submissions to about 100 ideas which will then be put forward before the public for a vote.

Upload, share and backup images without any limits

There exist so many photo-sharing sites Flickr, Picassa etc. They make image sharing easier than normal. Photie also jumps into this category with pride. It may not offer something unique to save the day but still has something in its sleeve. It allows you to upload as many images you can upload possibly with no restriction as to size and quantity.

These images can be shared over at different websites, social networks and users can also keep a track of where there images are being watched across the web.

It is easy to implement designed to make users comfort and easy viewing. On the main page it displays all types of images with tags given below. It don’t have major design and any unnecessary decorations and this feature allows to embed and upload images at a wink of an eye. You can resize and crop the image down to size of the sizes recommended.

Upload, share and backup images without any limits

After registering users can tag their photos and attach related information according to popularity using tag cloud. It is not so much extra ordinary but definitely worth using specially when it comes to unlimited storage. To me it’s on.

Worried about a secure platform where it is easy to share files then why not try out DocLanding. This website is an online place where as a user you can manage your business and personal network that matters the most. DocLanding helps companies and its employees to upload documents and files and also share with others.

Talking about sharing user files and data is DocLanding secure? How we can manage the data we share with others. What sort of privacy policy and disclaimer issues it comprises of? The answer is it lets you share and unshared files (file cabinets); save time; you can have reviews of anyone and update it at any time you feel to do so. Also it is not necessary to be associated to your company’s network there may be many similar sites out there, but I got my eyes set on this one as it seems as easy as 123.

Google drops another bombshell launching Google Moderator. It is an application used to discuss the tough and questions from the current situation regarding politics to technology. . There are always lots of hard-hitting questions to ask in a limited time frame, but to find which question grabbed user attention the most is a tough ask. Google Moderator allows adding frequent questions and cast your votes on the queries made others, so that’s how the app works.

Taliver Heath designed Moderator as a side project and it works on Google App Engine. The blog of the app engine describes the product.
To me this app engine worth a tryout.

Everyone in this world likes animated characters specially when it comes to portray one’s individuality. There are lots of websites serving the way discussed above. These sites give you a chance to generate animated cartoon characters of your desire along with custom design. According to me the sites I am talking about is may look like implemented for kiddies. GoAnimate provides you the same feature discussed above but in a way like no other. Start your day by using templates provided by GoAnimate. You can add animated series of scenes like a video clip

There lie a variety of characters that can be in line for your animation clip and they’re easy to customize. You can upload any photo over a character to add a little humor to it (like Elf-Yourself). To make things easy, you can search Flickr or your Facebook account for images. You can also add other media, such as sounds, music and your voice, to make your animation look more professional.

Animations are shareable across a variety of social networking and social bookmarking sites, as well as embeddable, so it’s easy enough to create viral content from your GoAnimate account, though I’m somewhat surprised to see YouTube missing from the distribution “share” list. What I find particularly interesting about GoAnimate’s site and business model is the fact that the team behind GoAnimate has also forged some deals with licensed animated content so that it can be used by animation creators on the site, and shared across the Web. This introduces some marketing potential on the part of many animators, both well-known and independent, not to mention other brands that would like to partake in user-generated animations as well.
Bringing such creation tools to the average Web user is part of a larger trend we’re seeing across a number of Flash-based spaces, including games and multimedia content-sharing from companies like EA Games. As such media becomes further integrated into the social media sites we already frequent, monetization will encourage even more feature development to simplify the creation and sharing process.

Everyone in this world have some thirst for knowledge The ideal way is to discover answers manually and need some specific medium to fulfill your quest. That’s where search comes in existence. The most popular way up till date is to search is through internet and find answers. That’s why today search engines rule the World Wide Web and caused remarkable gain to our knowledge. The sad part is we come across only few like Google, msn, dogpile, ask, Yahoo and Wikipedia. These are the search engines we mostly trust and recommend.

Hittery is the custom search engine that adds the elite list of all search engines within itself. It comprises of a dashboard having different boxes defined with categories starting from Internet and tech to travel guide. This gives you an option to eye a topic-specific websites and search engines.

The advantage using Hittery is quite amazing as you can scroll through 12.000 websites including Google, Digg, and facebook and so on. If a topic is really worth searching it might display the results you asked for example if I search a topic lets say about health. It displays 75 results from different medical websites all over the world.

It uses not one but two drop down menus in the homepage at the top which let you add more custom search engines and even normal search engines. The custom search includes all types of websites where as normal search engine have websites like Google, Digg, Delicious, Yellow pages, White pages and so on. There are many options available regarding your choice, just add them and diversify your search results on a specific topic. To get all the custom search boxes just click ‘show all custom search engines ‘. Further more it’s easy to use and customize. You can also use drag and drop to sort through the search engines and change their position. The best part is you don’t have to search through any menu to remove one you don’t like. Simply place your cursor on the X sign and delete the search engine.

As a new user there was uncertainty in my mind regarding the performance of the search engine. What’s so unique that can force me use Hittery. Will it be able to display the results of my liking? Let’s try this! I opt and search for White House. Yeah it’s absolutely right on target. I got search from Washingtonpost, Foxnews and Cnn with the content regarding White House.

search-white-house-hittery

You’ll get the searched results on the left hand side where as on the right there’s a sidebar with other options. This is how the sidebar is used: -

1. First set a time frame for search results. Its up to the you either use last 24 hours or even forever

2. Search the query by selecting the search engine of your choice from Google, YouTube, Flickr, , Live, Google news or even Hittery itself.

3. Attach the custom search engine to iGoogle, Netvibes or Google Toolbar.

4. You can also suggest a website URL for inclusion of the results

. If you really love to search results to specific websites and like custom search engines then Hittery could be the unique choice for you. For me it is going to be awesome to use a site like that.

yahoo

Yahoo succeeds in hiring Jeff Dossett Microsoft’s seasoned campaigner as an executive. It appears as if Yahoo is gearing up to be in the hot waters and let Microsoft wreak havoc upon it. Since the day Microsoft’s VP and chief media officer of MSN Media Network, Joanne Bradford was acquired by Yahoo as U.S sales executive, the company opened their hearts out for their so called arch rival of the past.It looks like Microsoft is eying the influence it can create within Yahoo. More over Yang looks interested in devising a strategy to boost Yahoo’s executive slot. The total number of Microsoft employees in Yahoo would rise to three for this year if Dossett joinsit as well.

Its still early days to discover Dossett since job he is acquired for is still in the mist but who knows he might get something related to the experience he gained at Microsoft. Maybe he might be heading for bolster, the Messenger service of Yahoo? Only time will tell where and Dossett stands.

facebook

Facebook gives a clue about the upcoming changes in its plans. Facebook’s VP of Growth, Mobile and International Palihapitiya, associated with mobile social networking, was criticized by an audience member that a phone’s address book is essentially its owner’s social network, In reply Palihapitiya said, “That’s a great observation. Stay tuned.”

This was just the beginning of the end, as the pr associated to Facebook did not let him say anything beyond that. But if considered could be a splendid idea ever implemented by Facebook It believes in portraying relations that look real in 5the eyes of the World Wide Web. When it comes to mobile contact there does not exist a term known as ‘offline and online contacts. Users all over the world are already addicted to this site through their mobiles, for they download its applications like Black berry and Iphone as well as the access through the ordinary browser from a normal mobile phone. For me if this integration do take place it could be another victory for Facebook in the race of apps for social networks.
